SUNDAY NIGHT MULTIS

Almost the usual losing fare but not quite.

Played warm up *s - lose race for stacks like i do every week in that tourney, then cashed in the FPP turbo takedown for the grand total of 75$ !!!

Betfair usual 66K was just the 30k tonight as a WSOPE qualifyer and i was 10th of 10 with 9 paid when JJ held v A3 - however because I have not had a decent cash for a while i played like a bit of a softie to ensure got 9th at least for 1200$ (500 in). This is far from optimal and someone nicking my blind knew this. Eventually reraised an early position raiser all in when 7th of 8 but my 44 was in bad shape v 88 - for 2nd week in row Klup takes me out when in money - i got 1400$ and something for $900 profit which will cover the days entries and horse losers !!!

Only over game i am in is a qualifyer for APT Maccau that I came 3rd in last year when 2 seats guarenteed and was twice in for a seat when 80 20 and lost both !!!!

about 6th of 56 left with 3 seats gtd at the moment.

EDIT - Final Table of Macau thing 10 left 3 seats currently 5th

6th of 8 knackered and this is going on !!!

6th of 6 - need double up to go 3rd

BUBBLE TIME 4 left for 3 seats all got equalish stacks - GL ME !!!

330AM still going ...........

NO LONGER A PLO FISH?

I have had a great month at PLO at 3/6 levels - I only 1 table or 2 max but profits have been awesome consider i only 1 table. I know I am 5 times better than I used to be at PLO and feel quite often I now have an edge when I sit. I noted lately that if it has got short handed then people have sat out which may be a sign I have got much better or just simply then do not like short handed play.

I also have ordered my 1st book on PLO as I enjoy it much more than hold em and don't consider it a chore to play at all. On the negative side multis are still terrible and I wonder if I have genuinely got bad at them after spending so much time on cash.

Anyway - this will be my best non multi winning profit month I think - figures to follow in a few days, although have done a fortune on sports (again!!)

FINAL TABLE

Was 5th in the Betfair 18K tonight for 1200$ = I played the last hand car crash cards :( getting it in when 4th of 5 with 2 outs where as I should have shoved over the min reraise pre and picked up pot uncontested but though he may have AA (had QJ)

FOL STRIKES AGAIN

16:15 5f Class 3 Levy Board Handicap (3yo plus) - Win Market

Results: 1st Fol Hollow 3/1
2nd Everymanforhimself 7/4 F

Have to admit to not having a penny piece on today though, however 7k race so a few quid from my share of prize fund.

Report from MPR

Fol defies the weights to score again

Looking at the form book, you could not have backed Fol Hollow today at Beverley today, as he was meeting many of his rivals from his previous Beverley victory but at much worse terms, giving some of his opponents nearly a stone in weight. But this year MPR horses seem to know that we are aiming for 50 victories, and they are putting in that bit extra to win their races rather than being placed. Fol was not drawn ideally in 3 but, with the defection of a couple of horses, he found himself drawn only 4 from the favoured Beverley rail. Adrian helped Fol to break superbly and he found himself on the pace with some of his rivals over 6 lengths down after a furlong. The writing was on the wall at this stage as there is not many horses who can give Fol a lead and then peg him back over 5 furlongs. When pressed by the Kevin Ryan trained favourite, Fol lengthened again to put his rival to the sword. Fol Hollow has now chalked up 3 wins this season already and has treated his owners to win in the UK and Ireland, what a terrific horse to be involved with. Lookout for him following up with another victory at the weekend.

ASCOT MARE

Really annoyed at myself - lost discipline today and did a fortune in on the horses at Ascot (> 2K). Really annoyed as having a really good month at poker hence was rather reckless today.

On plus side I luck boxed out KK v AA in a hand this morning for 2K so will just consider that I lost that !!! - However puts me in 3K sports hole for month (again) !!!

ROYAL ASCOT SPIN UP !!!

Treat myself to a ridculous combo bet tomorrow on some long shots at Ascot. 2 winners and I will be rich as all combo bets.

A SCORE DRAW

Loaded 1/2 a buy in at 10 20 tonight on a spin up late on when one very weak player joined the table and had 2 of the biggest pots I have been in for a long time - it ended up a score draw but I think I won on away goals ;) !!!!

1st hand I have 99 have raised and big stack flats then the short stacker shoves for 40 odd BB and I raise to try and get rid of flatter who then shoves. I am 100% sure he has AK so call and its 99 v AK v KQ so I am in good shape and a 9 flops and I ship a pot between 3 and 4K.

10 mins later similar scenario. I have raised with another genuine hand (AK) one smooth call and then short stacker shoves (different one for 400), I shove all in to isolate but guy behind playing 1200 who had flatted for 60 now flats for his 1200 stack. Anyway 3k pot which when turned over is me AK v 1010 v QT (small stack) flop comes QJ and hands are not turned over and I am saying 10 not knowing I only have 1 10 i can hit. Any A or K would have done but was not to be.

However decent profit on night so pleased overall and playing pretty good especially reading opponants hands well.

MOBILE BROADBAND

Got this a few weeks ago as back up to my main connection as a few Sundays connection has gone down in multis. Paid £15 a month for 15GB usage but looking at usage so far 5GB would have been more than enough which is next to nothing.

BENEFITS

1) It is probably cheaper than a disco on a Sunday night.

2) Can play in garden / train etc

3) If have shit broadband connection like me it is actually an improvement in speed.

4) You run better at cash with Mobile broadband.

Ok maybe 4) is made up but I played on that connection since Fri and made a lot of $ at cash - switched back tonight and in the biggest pot I have been in for the month I get it in with J8 on JJ6 board and JJ62 by turn ( 3 diamonds) versus AA (A di) and river is ace for a pot over 2k.

However, above just for Ben as he thinks I am golden - apart from that I have been going well / winning more than share of races and big hands holding up at both PLO and NLHE cash. Only downside is multis are still awful but tbh I play much less now as cash hourly rate has been so good.

Winning run has come at right time as I needed some cash fast and now have what I needed.

Fol Hollow entered in 6F race on Friday - I have lead team meeting at work so cannot attend so bit gutted as think he has a chance.

THE RIVER BLUFF - 2 INTERESTING 9 7 HANDS !!

Is it always the sweetest pot to win? !!!! My call is spewy pre but I was almost certain his tiny river bet had to be under pair to board that he thought would lose at showdown !!

Anyway real reason for below is so the Cardrunners subscribers can tell me how shit and lucky I am ;) morning Ben / Brennan !!!!!

Played about 5 cash sessions in row across Fri / Sat and things have been going decent - played really well with some great decisions and really feel i have started to get better value for made hands. A few AA v KK and AA v AK all in pre also help :)

Now comes the downswing as posted if Holmes blog sets precedent

I also had £5 lucky 15 on horses and when 1st leg Mull of Dubai won at 16s I had a very nice looking bet on my hands . Next one cruised to lead at 7s but lost, next one cack then last one got mega bumped when looking like winning at 4s so in end minimum return.

EDIT

Literally 5 mins after posting above the below hand comes up with 9 7 again. I love the river but it probably costs me a lot of cash in end !!!

A) Should I have raised riv?
B) If he shoves should i call
C) Should i be pleased i didnt go totally bust on hand !!

FURTHER BAD LUCK IN MULTIS

This year continues to be sick in the big pots against the opponants who I feel have made incorrect calls. I know him and he has a big stack which means he can make the call but I think 90% of the time he will have 3 outs in this situation and the odds they get are not attractive enough to make the call if that is the case. Mostthetime my range will be JJ QQ KK or AK AQ and only TT when he is 50 50. There was 16 left in the 66K from 100 and odd (18 paid) - below to go 3rd and with a genuine chance for the big money.

LADBROKES POKER VIP DAY

As a few know I have been playing cash more this year and this has mainly been on Ladbrokes poker site that was recommended by Brenos. My volume was enough to qualify for the VIP club and soon after I got an invite to the derby as did Ben and Brennan and we were allowed to take a guest. The Mrs and I travelled down with the afore mentioned on Friday night and part of the VIP package was accommodation at a 4 * hotel in Victoria London which was very nice. Anyway had a few beers Friday night and woke up slightly rough Sat.

However, i quickly got rid of feeling rough an what has to be one of the best VIP events ever. Basically an open top double decker bus came and picked us up and stopped 10 mins later bringing on board bacon sarnies galore and more booze than you have ever seen including top notch champers. 90 minutes later and about 8 glasses of champers later we arrive at Epsom with only bad news being that it was drizzling.

Anyway we got served canapes and a nice 3 course lunch in a covered area with lots of fine champagne and wine again. I thought this would be the end of the free booze but no way Jose. Next 4 hrs were spent between watching the races from the top of the double decker, putting bets on and drinking more and more champagne. Fol Hollow ran also but was in trouble early and could not recover eventually finishing 8th of 20 odd.

I had 0 winners from 6 bets but the Mrs had 3 winners and won the sweepstake - forget about form and just back the names is the secret. !!! Anyway after tha last race and what must have been 30ish glasses of champagne it was back on the bus for the 2 hr journey back to London and some of the funniest 2 hrs of my life.

Basically, the journey back consisted of pink champagne galore, a singalong with the band upstairs and then some freestyle Oasis songs etc as loud as you can imagine. Everyone was completely gone and the girls from the VIP club did a superb job maintaining a bit of order and preventing any of the drunkards falling off the top deck. Every person we passed in London was pissing themselves when they seen / heard the bus. Bus also got lost so we got back later than expected.

Then had a beer or tow in the hotel but was well gone, and when Brennan told us he was Phil Hellmuth for the 20th time I decided it was time to get some tea with the Mrs. A quick pizza then bed and zzzz land was the way to go.

Woke up today with absolutely no hangover what so ever (total miracle), had a big fry up and headed back home on the train.

Without doubt the best VIP / corporate entertainment do I have ever been on - Thank you very much to the Ladbrokes / Boisedale staff and bring on next year. !!!!

SUMMER STARTS TOMORROW

BB10

Two of the funniest clips from last year :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTMFqF9zqqs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pplIzPLyxjc&feature=related

TONIGHTS GAG

As poker is ****

A crusty old biker out on a long summer ride in the country pulls up to a tavern in the middle of nowhere, parks his bike and walks inside.

As he passes through the swinging doors, he sees a sign hanging over the bar:

COLD BEER : $2.00
HAMBURGER : $2.25
CHEESEBURGER : $2.50
CHICKEN SANDWICH : $3.50
HAND JOB : $50.00

Checking his wallet to be sure he has the necessary payment, the ole' biker walks up to the bar and beckons to the exceptionally attractive female bartender who is serving drinks to a couple of sun-wrinkled farmers.

She glides down behind the bar to the ole biker.

Yes?" she enquires with a wide, knowing smile, "may I help you?"

The ole biker leans over the bar, "I was wondering young lady," he whispers, "are you the one who gives the hand-jobs?"

She looks into his eyes with that wide smile and purrs, "Why yes, yes, I sure am".

The ole' biker leans closer and into her left ear whispers softly, "Well, wash your hands real good, cause I want a cheeseburger".

ANOTHER MARE

Just had -4 fig night at cash - last hand was sick which would have put me in decent profit for night.

Basically playing the shortish stack but get it all in for 400 and odd after a bet of 100 and call of 100 ahead of me on 896 flop when i have 89.

Turn 6 hence assume I am dead - gos to riv which is Ten so deffo dead turns out they had A7 and 78 so I was alive to riv - pretty :(

Anyway unless mindset changes thinking of really sacking poker off and do something else for a while - not particularly enjoying it at moment.
