Out both by 930 FFS I am such a donk now.
Got it all in on Betfair with just a flush draw and overs versus a flopped house so I have no outs.
Then in ECOOP I take a flop with KJ suited and flop comes QT (my suit) 4 and get it in v TT and miss the lot and he fills up.
More multi donkament cash down drain.

MAY POKER P AND L
PLO 5
FL -980
HU -470
Multi -3265
STT 50
NL 5120
Rake Bonus1000
PROFIT 1460
Quite a frustrating month but pretty much always in profit but never by much. A few big buy ins for GUKPT etc included in above.
POSITIVES
1) Non losing month at PLO :)
2) NL - I should play more as have been doing pretty well at 3 6 although its a good job the way multis have been going.
NEGATIVES
1) Multis continue to be awful. I am definitely running awful (lost 3 flips in row when CL tonight) but also not playing as well as I used to.
2) 2nd Nuts into nuts again in a large buy in tourney (AA v KK in GUKPT main event)
3) Much lower roll so having to sat into events and find myself laddering to make cash when i know deep down should be shoving over top near bubble etc.
OPPORTUNITY
1) I have already qualified for the 500$ event tomorrow night on IPoker and have took entered a 320$ sat to the main event on Monday.
2) $2500 main event in ECOOP on Monday - happy to be staked if any serious offers leave a comment :) - I am due to run good.

POKER GAG
Lifted from Betfair forum
Two couples were playing poker one evening. Jim accidentally dropped some cards on the floor.
When he bent down under the table to pick them up, he noticed Bob's wife, Sue wasn't wearing any underwear under her dress!
Shocked by this, Jim upon trying to sit back up again, hit his head on the table and emerged red-faced.
Later, Jim went to the kitchen to get some refreshments. Bob's wife followed and asked, 'Did you see anything that you like under there?'
Surprised by her boldness, Jim admitted that, well indeed he did. She said, 'Well, you can have it but it will cost you £500.'
After taking a minute or two to assess the financial and moral costs of this offer, Jim confirms that he is interested!
Sue told him that since her husband Bob worked Friday afternoons and Jim didn’t, that Jim should be at her house around 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.
When Friday rolled around, Jim showed up at Bob's house at 2 p.m. sharp and after paying Sue the agreed sum of £500 - they went to the bedroom and closed their transaction, as agreed.
Jim quickly dressed and left.
As usual, Bob came home from work at 6 p.m. And upon arriving, asked his wife: 'Did Jim come by the house this afternoon?'
With a lump in her throat Sue answered 'Why yes, he did stop by for a few minutes this afternoon.' Her heart nearly skipped a beat when her husband curtly asked, 'And did he give you £500?'
Sue, using her best poker face, replied, 'Well, yes, in fact he did give me £500.'
Bob, with a satisfied look on his face, surprised his wife by saying, 'He came by the office this morning and borrowed £500 from me. He promised he'd stop by our house this afternoon on his way home and pay me back.'
Now THAT, my friends, is a poker player

2 5 HR PLUS MULTIS UPDATE
Awesome multi on full tilt on Thur night called MSOp (mini series of poker) basically every day they have an even that mirrors the wsop event just 100 times the buy in less and 100 times the clock less. Hence yesterdays 40K 2 hr levels WSOP event translated to a 400$ 12 min level 1000K GTD.
This had 450 runners and I played rather well - I was average stacked approaching the bubble (paid 50 700$+) and 3 of us seen a Q rag rag flop after my raise got no respect with AQ. Anyway someone bet into me on a q84 2 spade board and i decided i was ahead so jammed over the top and they called with A4 but with the flush draw. Turn blank river spade and I am gone for 0 rather than top 10 with 50 left in a huge prize money event.
Tonight i played a 80$ sat and won through that to play the 750$ 350K ECOOP (European Championship Of Online Poker) event on ipoker. Again 500 and odd runners and 50 paid. It looked like the same story all over again as I was 53 of 56 when pushed a low stack with A5 called by the BB with TT but fortunately i flopped an ace and have now beat the bubble so guaranteed 1575$.
I am currently very low though as played mega defensive to cash in situations i would usually shove but needs must at the moment. I am 40 oddth of 40 odd left and next payment jump is 500$ if get in the 30s which I will probably try and ladder to but only have 8 big blinds.
EDIT
Gone 38th for 2100$ I shoved 7 BB with A2 into big blinds AQ adn board cam AQQ

JUST LOL
CLEAN SWEEP: Latics star Titus Bramble is pictured with chairman Dave Whelan after picking up the club's top four awards - Media player of the Season, Players Player of the Year, Away player of the year and the Player of the year award
That sums up Newcastle - players just do better elsewhere !! We can make a good player bad in no time like all the people we buy from Spanish league for zillions and sell for peanuts !!!

FINDING THE POSITIVES WITHIN A NEGATIVE
THE NEGATIVE
Ok the facts are that the majority of my poker income over the last 2.5 years has come from multi tournaments. Last year I won 3 major tournaments that all paid over 20000 USD each which is 2/3rds of my years profits.
This yeat the only Multi I won was a 300 and odd runner EPT qualifyer that I then lasted 45 mins in the main event, hence in a 5 figure hole for the year at multis. Azimut told me last year to enjoy it while it lasts as variance is huge in multis and can have long horrible periods, how right he was.
THE POSITIVES
1) Turing this around from a PMA perspective is a simple fact that I run bad this year at multis but obviously to win 3 big tournies in 3 months I must have run hot last year and now recognise this more than ever.
2) Fortunately I have improved my cash game during the year and now think I am a half decent 3 6 NL player over 2/3 tables. At the same time my PLO game has improved to break even. Hence, the net result is I have been able to cover my multi losses via other forms of poker.
Looking foward I am going to cut down my expenditure on multis unless show a profit in the week from cash. If I want to play the fancy big money Sunday majors then I am going to have to earn it by slogging the sats to get into them. This should also help me play through the negative variance and hopefully I can make a few quid at cash at the same time.
I have had a couple of big unexpected hits expenditure wise and dont have a big roll at the minute. I also set up an ISA and have started to buy some shares via this thus reducing the roll further, and locked up £500 on Hull to go down next year at 9-4 at weekend.
Hence the immediate future looks like lower stakes or I need to sick run good !! I should get about 500-600 rakeback and a repayment of £1k on a loan hence should have about a £2-£2.5K roll for May. Time to run good again !!!
I am going to the Derby via a VIP invite that Brennan and Ben are going too also in June that sounds mint. However, i learned today that I probably will not be able to go and pick up my owners badge that day which is dissapointing as cannot get over to that enclosure with the double decker bus entrance tickets we will have.

I HATE ACES
Totally cursed at the moment.
AA v JJ go out the Sunday Brawl 215$ buy in.
Then 66K Betfair 40 left of 120 starters and I disco and I get back just in time to see I am on small blind with 2 black aces with a raise and reraise in front of me just in time to see them fold. Next hand I get QQ and reraise a raiser who off cause has AA that holds !!!
Anyway only other game I am in is a WSOP qualifyer in F Tilt which i got into the 500$ final via a 30$ sat earlier but already trailing behind average and no doubt will run into aces or have them bust in next hour or three !!

THE TOON ARE DOON
Very flat performance today like most of the season and no complaints with relegation.
However, I have found 1 way we would survive - lets blame the ref :)

GUKPT MAIN EVENT
Very small field 40 odd for day 1A went something like below.
- 1st 3 hrs snore fest I hate live poker.
- Get moved tables (looks like more action)
- Raise from button 67 BB flats I continuation bet Ace flop and win pot.
- Next hand I raise from cut off with 2 black kings (1st decent hand in 3 hrs)to 450 and get repopped to 1500 - someone then flats the 1500 and i shove about 10K, this gets through original ranger and then quickly called. Pretty sure I must be versus QQ or AK so 70 or 80% equity but he turns over aces and board does not even bring a sweat.
I mention 2 black kings as I went out exactly the same hand last year !! Also the 2nd live tourney in a row when I have got it in with 2nd nuts v nuts which is obviously extremely annoying set up.
10PM EDIT SOME GOOD NEWS
After I went out I went for tea with a couple of players I met at CPC (Geo / Joey) and decided to paly the £100 side event. However it was capped at 90 and only taking alternates so i sacked it off. Hence came home loaded a few cash tables to try and win entry back.
Just had a 3 way all in on PLO me QD 9D on a JT8 flop ( 2 di flop) versus 1010 rag rag and AD 2D and the turn and the board came rag rag non dis. Shipped the 1450EUR pot and instantly logged off in profit for the day inclding main event buy in :)

MAKING $ AT POKER IS NO LONGER EASY
THE EVIDENCE
- I have seen the standard rise loads in 12 months.
- Far less fish around and far more full timers.
- Plenty decent players i know struggling
- 50 of the countries best players selected for Black Belt poker grading thing and a lot of them are losing at really low levels over decent sample sizes.
- More and more training sites out there.
THE SOLUTION
- Not yet know but working on a few angles
or
- Newcastle GUKPT main event (Day 1A tomorrow)GL me !!!!

NO GUKPT EVENT
Got stuck at work tonight hence didnt have time to get Newcastle to play the opening GUKPT event which was a £200 freeze out. I then logged on line with the aim to win £330 to pay for tomorrows event. I was in for 1000 and in a 700 hole with only 300 left at one stage on NL600 however I recovered from a couple of suck outs versus me to leave with 1500 and a £450 profit on night so mission accomplished.
Should make it for the £330 double chance tomorrow which is 7000 chips and 2 day event with a decent structure. Would be interested how many runners for opening event if someone could let me know.
EDIT
Sacked it off again I heard they play till 330AM - no good for the working man !!
FFS wish I had gone - get totally sick cash hand where i land the card I think i need to get pay off and overshove for 1200 pot and get insta called by nut flush v my 2nd nuts - if i don hit this card my bluff on riv would have won pot.
Then get big stack early in 20K Gtd - and get it all in versus anothe reasonable stck me KK him AK and he sucks out for pot that would give me chip lead.

6 SHORT STORIES
YORK RACES
Has a good day with my mates from Lanchester down at York on Friday - 3 winners including 1 decent bet covered all expenses for day and some - only regret is ending up in a shit club in town till 2am when should have come home when got back to town at 11.
EPSOM DERBY DAY
I have a VIP invite to a corporate do at Epsom races on derby day from a poker room that looks mint. Also few of my mates going and fol hollow entered so should be a top weekend (June 6th).
FOLDING POCKET KINGS
I read a few articles on this including Ben the fish Holmes one lately. I nearly folded kings twice in 2 mins last night. 1st time was a sat to FTOPS main event with 14 seats and 17 left and an all in ahead of me and i folded when in 11th - he had QQ !!!
2nd time someone 3 bet me in the FTOPS main event and they never 3 bet so i was 100% they had aces. However , before i folded i decided it was +EV to set mine for 300 more and shipped a 20K pot when K flopped - had it not flopped I would have folded. However, i went out 7 hrs later for 0 return - how annoying is that !!!!
NEWCASTLE GUKPT
Is on this week - I will probably play one of the £200 events on Mon or Tue and then take it from there.
PLO HORROR STORIES
I have lost 2 massive pots today when all in with a flopped full house at PLO against someone with a set. Both times they filled up for better full houses and 2200 in pots.
SYNCHRONISED BREAKS
While playing on FTP i noticed that all the multis have breaks at same time. This is so simple yet a master stroke. Should mean the likes of Amatay never need to pish / shat themselves again :)

SYNCHRONISED BREAKS
While playing on FTP i noticed that all the multis have breaks at same time. This is so simple yet a master stroke. Should mean the likes of Amatay never need to pish / shat themselves again :)

SUCK OUT SAVES NIGHT
Played the PL mixed FTOPS event tonight and quite enjoyed it. Basically mix of PLNLHE and PLO. About 1000 runners for 200$ buy in and I was 90th for 300$ and odd dollars but was never in a fantastic position.
Then was in a bit of a hole at cash and ended up all in (dont ask I 4 bet bluffed !!) with 910 hearts versus a small stacker and another guy who has AA. Anyway i spiked 2 pair and took down a 1000 EUR pot which put me about £300 in front for the day at close of play which would have been a 6-700 loss if did not get lucky.
However I lost more than double that on a couple of big bets at York races. One I had a fortune on at 6-1 and if got a clear run would have psihed in :(
Off to York races Friday with all my mates from Lanchester, then last home game of season followed by a few bevvies and then have stuff to sort house wise Sunday followed by some multis.

ALMOST 1ST MULTI WIN OF YEAR
Just a cheapie donk fest on Betfair tith 100 or so runners. I basically was top 3 all the way through and got to heads up with decent chip lead.
Was all in three times with chip lead - 1st 2 times behind and 40 / 60s.
Then I have tiny chip lead and both all in me Q Ten suited versus a dubious call by him with Q 7 - flop 886 and I am gutted with turn 6 meaning splt but not as gutted as river 7.
Anyway 1st 1500$ 2nd 1000$ so hopefully will be my cheapest ever bad beat heads up and I get my luck in a 10k difference one !!!

TOON ARMY TIME TO STAND UP AND BE COUNTED
Ok once again the results have gone our away again today and it is really back in our own hands again. Simple fact is that if we win our games we stay up.
Monday night home to Boro - both the fans and the players need to step up to the mark and delivery. I am really looking foward to the game now. Lets take down the 2 home games this week and charge to survival. Ps can I win a multi also when asking for miracles :D

LOL ALL IN 1 MULTI
100 rebuy on *s tonight - 300 and odd runners I chip lead early and am going very well thinking I could land my 1st big result for a while.
About 100 left then these 3 hands within 10 mins.
I shove over raises 1 calls me JJ v 1010 flop 3 diamonds less than 10 and I have J diamond and he hits the other 10.
2 mins later i raise and get a flatter in BB again me JJ flop 10 9 7 that he pushes and shows J 10 - runner runner for flush for him.
The next hand a raiser and I shove all in with AK trying to look like on tilt. KQ calls and river is a Q.
That sums up perfectly 2009 multis.

NL going well and been able to play more tables.

1st winning month of year but highly dissapointing.
I was well in front and then started placing large bets with profits. I am also hating myself for not laying Murphy at evens when I had £400 at 7-1.

CHARITY POKER GAME PLEASE SUPPORT
Anyone who uses the Betfair forums - especially specials (I will back on anything !!) will have read posts by the "Kitten". The posts on things like big brother are awesome and I am sure he must watch it 24*7 and gets several betting edges as a result.
Anyway he had some bad news recently when diagnosed with Lieukemia - there is a chariy poker tourney on Betfair below which it would be great if people could support.

On a seperate theme I have staked a student a couple of times on Betfair with no return. He won a wsop seat last night and made an awesome gesture that the 3 people who had staked him previous have 1% of him in main event.

WELL DONE DAVE "TEAMDOBBS"
I have just read his blog that shows he has won the Newcastle poker forum league and his prize is a £1K seat in the GUKPT and to be honest this shows there is some justice in the world.
Fantastic couple (him and his wife) that we met at the CPC and whom I have ran in to a few times since. Always rooting for local Newcastle players and in my experience if he can help anyone out then he does. Also him and his son put a load of work in setting up the fantastic Newcastle poker forum. His blog and forum both linked on the right hand side of my blog.
Also I have to admit when I 1st met him I thought his game needed some work, then in recent times when I have played with him you can see he has developed into a very good poker player.
I am sure he will be competitive in the GUKPT and GL to him and any other Newcastle poker forum memebers who play (and me of course !!).

IF CARLSBERG DID SATURDAYS
Then ................
Won £2K on balcony before breakfast at NLHE on 2 tables. Headed out nice and sunny but windy as out. However, went for dinner (beautiful red snapper) in a secluded place and then came out and they had the best sun bathers ever for 5 EUR for that day with girls doing massages and Beer served to your bed.
Just chilled listening to the ipod all day after fantastic lunch. Came back check how my bet on the 2000 Guineas went and it won at 12-1 although only had £40 quid on.

Also got a 7 fold on footy and 1st 4 won today. I would be delighted to lose as long as it was the toon getting some points !!!

MULTI TIPS
OK in response to a few questions - some simple multi tips.
1) DONT SLOW PLAY BIG HANDS
You have 77 flop A72 - get betting? - Why if he dont have an ace you may get 1 small bluff bet. If he does have strong ace you can get bets galrore in. How to disguish the hand? - put same bet out with KQ and he will fold if no ace.
2) KNOW YOUR IMAGE
A lot of people can tell you what everyones image is at the table. However, they cannot necessairly tell you there own. Lets say you have raised with AA 10 hands in a row and it never went to showdown - you need to be aware that everyone else will have you as maniac.
DONT NICK THE BLINDS - NICK TEH RAISE AND THE BLINDS
Identify who is nicking the blinds and antes and every few rounds come over the top and nick both - much more profitable than just pinching blinds.
DONT CARE TOO MUCH ABOUT CASHING UNLESS SMALL STACKED
Too many people lost tournies when pussyfutting around the bubble. Hence unless a major bubble (higher buy in than usual / or mega short stacked ) then get attacking and risk all.
DONT THINK YOUR THE GREATEST BECAUSE WIN A FEW MULTIS
I won quite a few last year and was very proud of some of the bigger wins. However, currently in a very dry spell and you realise how much luck is involved in winning a multi. Consider a big win payback for bad beats etc and dont feel like multis owe you. If keep doing the right things, with the right aggression the wins will come.
