DECENT RUN IN REBUY ENDS IN FRUSTRATION

Had decent run in *s rebuy tonight but lost the big race when it mattered. I am almost 100% sure he has AK when he shoves and since i know I am fav I decide I have to call and go for a big score.

They were 28 left and I was about 16th ( i cashed for 700$ which is cack profit of 400$) but top 5 in this tourney get over 10k with 1st over 20k so below mega frustating when i cannot get a result epsecially when flop comes rags. I win this i go 4th and have bullying stack on this table.

Pretty cold, would you usually call pre in the cash hand?
Did you consider folding or 3betting or did you have any idea what he would mini raise the button with? Do you think now your flop reraise is a little small?

Not criticising,
just wondering your opinion because I can beat 2/4 etc. but always a loser on 5/10 it seems. And a mini raise from button seems like such a weird play to me anyway. Wondering how to react to it.

Very nice blog sir!

Thats some sick luck with the flush vs flush. Ak vs JJ is standard, but still unlucky to lose the race. Hope it turns around for you.

Could you please link us up and we will do the same.

Thanks

Hi Matt good questions.

Not pretending I am an expert at these levels but will try and address your points from my mindset.

1) would you usually call pre in the cash hand? To be honest i usually call a min raise with anything unless it is from the 20BB short stackers where i raise or fold. I am not confortable 3 betting with a weak hand as opponant min raises with crap and with monster which answers your next question.

2) Is the flop reraise a little small?

No for me i need to raise as it give sme 2 ways to win the pot, 1) he folds and i win with nothing 2) he calls and I hit a flush and win (or in this case lose as would have been better if turn hand blanked !!). I also prob fold to a 3 bet in this case if I do not feel i get paid off for stacks if hit flush. I think all non draw non made hands fold to this size raise, only potential hand that calls is something like AK which you are happy for as if A or K of flush card comes you probably get paid.

That was my mindset - apoligies if long winded.

Cheers for the insight.
Ive got to the point where im playing my style and sometimes i question if my moves are +ev or not,
more talking about would betting $50 achieve the same as betting $60, then when he folds you win the same, but if he plays back at you, you saved $10, and all those $10s add up
I've been reading your blog for years now, check it out every day for updates, good luck at the tables and keep up the good work :)
