Reviewing month 1 against my aims for the year which I have cut and pasted below.

Aims for 2007 in order of importance and % chance I think I have of achieving it.1) Win 12k on line in 2007. 50%2) Make a profit from stt's or don't play them. 80%3) Have at least 9 winning months from 12. 50%4) Qualify for a major live tournament making the effort via satellites. 20%.5) play NL cash on betfair more and make a profit - 80%plus 2 less measurable ones.1) don't abuse anyone in chat unless abused first no matter how bad there play is.2) have at least 1 day a week when don't play poker.

Opened an account with dusk till dawn and I think its " golden " !!!

within 30 minutes last night I won 2 big fixed limit pots with quads v a full house and then a straight flush v a flush - 2 very nice hands and pots both with good pay.

Long may it continue. Anyway the month has been rescued in the last week since I had my blow out day and comfortably in profit now for the month at poker.

Unfortunately it is my worst ever month Sports betting where I have hit 4 figures down !!
If poker covers sports losers for month then its better than it looked at one stage. The other benefit is volume wise I have played so much this month I think I will be due almost 4 figures rakeback across Interpoker and DTD in Feb. I also have 2 freerolls in Feb - one for an EPT seat at Monte Carlo and 1 for a WSOP seat so fingers crossed in these - both are on this Sunday so I will let you know how I do.

Off on my travels in Feb to Manilla and Russia / Ukraine so will be playing a lot less.

ROAD TO RECOVERY

One Week since my horrific last post which as you know I was not proud of at all. I basically have tryed to teach myself a lesson this week.

I dropped right down to 1$ 2$ Fixed limit - mega small pots to try and teach myself discipline etc. If I won enough to be twice the minimum buy in then I moved to the next level. I have played far too many hands this week but really tryed to beat myself up by making me play hand after hand at these levels.

Anyway I was able to go from 1 2 to 2 4 after lots of grinding - I beat 2 4 quick moved to 3 6 and yesterday got enough for 5 10. Basically after 1 week off grinding I have recovered the grand I lost on tilt last Friday.

I now need to work out what level I need to play ongoing - based on this weeks exercise I am tempted to drop to 5$ 10$ as rakeback and mpp's are still quite good.

Won a nice hand at NL last night and am now back in front a very small amount in this roller coaster month.

However I am a lot down on sports betting this month ( I think my worst month in 2 years ) - down 4 figures and everything I touch gos wrong.

My midweek bet was £80 win Spurs 6-4 and £20 Spurs HT FT at 7-2- Spurs went 2 0 up early and I didn't lay off - of course final score 2 2 and I lose potential incoming funds of £290 :(

Hopefully a good weekend at poker can get me to break even for sports + poker for the month which wouldn't be too bad as I have played more poker than ever so should get 800 or so rakeback in early Feb.

WHAS THAT COMING OVER THE HILL ITS THE TILT MONSTER

Oh My -not very proud about this one.

Got 2 awful badbeats in a row at fixed limit for hundreds and then for the first time for along long time went on TILT.

YOU NEVER WIN ON TILT

Basically loaded up twice chased every draw at FL and did 4 figures in 3 hours - absolute disgrace - I want to beat my self with a big stick.

Then 2 big bets today £50 double on footy at 7-1 where 1st wins and other is 2 0 up and draws 2 2 and £100 on a horse at 5-2 that falls when in the lead.

Shocking play + bad luck not a good combo - over 4 figures down for month :(

I need a break as my head is in a mess - will update next time i play which hopefully is not for a while as my frame of mind is terrible.

MULTI RUN CONTINUES WHILE FIXED LIMIT FRUSTRATION GOS ON

Played the £12k GTD tonight and got some good beats !!!!
A few times i won pots all in from behind including hitting a 2 outer. Hover I then blew it at the final table when the prize money was huge. I was 4th of 9 left and fired 2 big bluffs in a small blind v big blind pot - the second time I bet far too much into a board Q55 which I thought was a good one to fire at when I had raised from SB and got a call (him Q ten suited). My bet size was pot leaving me crippled and I think I could have bet 1/2 the pot and still had some play left if he had called or raised. Really annoyed at my poor play but got £250 for 9th. ( but for example 375 8th 500 7th 1000 5th etc )

Disappointing week also on FL cant seem to get moving and basically Im only break even for month as my profit is basically rakeback generated. Today I find a total fish maniac playing FL 10/20 raising all the time with nothing and quickly take £400 off him. But then I multi tabled putting the 400 in 2 tables and basically lost all the profit over 3 hrs.

We played the dream team event last night and none of us did anything so no longer looking any good in that although will give it another bash next week.

4 MULTI TABLE CASHES IN A ROW

Adding to the 2 final tables below I have also cashed in my next 2 multis - that's 4 in a row.

However 3 of the 4 got me profit of under £100.

Tonight i scraped into cash in 15k but then got to 11 of 17 remaining.

Possy 1 minimum raised to 2400 - each time I had seen him do this he was quite weak with 2 high cards at best - I looked down at Ace Jack and re raised all in. Not because I was necessarily in front but because I thought it would take him off hand. With his 2400, plus antes and blinds there was almost 5000 in pot to pick up for my 11k all in. However this time he had AK hence called ( as I would ) - his AK stood up and I was out 17th for $180 ( 100$ buy in ).

It probably reads like a bad move but 10th - 17th get paid the same so I like to move in this period - never mind.

Last night i played the rake the rake free roll and came 30th for $50 never really had anything going and grinded into the cash.

Had great weekend at NL and cash which turned month into small profit. Just going to grind at low limit FL this week on interpoker to pick up the mpps towards the Monte Carlo platinum club freeroll and hopefully to get to the 500$ 10000 mpp level to release that but this may prove beyond me.

Its 2nd event in dream team event on Thur so would love to make 5 cashes in row in multis as would get team plenty points :)

AMERICAN FOOTBALL PAYS !!!! 200$ an hour

Had a small £40 quid bet on the American footy game that started at 1am so stayed up to watch it.

Despite saying I was going to play NL more I hadn't had much success early in Jan so hadn't played for a while.

I have £40 on Eagles +4.5 which looks like it will be close at 5-4 against.

However I played 4 hrs 2$ 5$ NL on betfair. Bought in for 250$ and played solid - just left table with 1000$ and played really well - I won a lot of pots with big bets with nothing just reading one of the very aggressive players quite well. NO massive pot just kept increasing stack so very happy as shows played well over 3 hr period.

All in all great weekend so far poker wise and what was a loss in Jan has now transformed into profit - hopefully can kick on from here.

LAUGH OR CRY

Cash very low at moment with xmas and all - didnt even have enough on befair to play the 15k.

I had about 40 quid and needed 55 so played nl cash v disciplined for 15 mins and got entry to 15k.

Bought in and prob played one of the best games off my life - never once in behind until i made a mistake on final table. I came over top of button raise with my ace 9 he had ace jack but battled back.

I was 5th of 5 left with 20k but 3 of them only 30k when reraised someone when I had 10 10 he calls with ace 4 suited im delighted at this stage. 1st card flop is a ten - YESSSSSS im going up to 2nd here - however 2 spades and river comes a spade and doesnt fill my trips for a full house. He wins and im out in 5th - 950$ very welcome but again a bad beat at the 15k final table.

On bright side 2 final tables in 2 nights in 100+ runner tournies - bit annoyed tonight as 1st 4.5k$ and 2nd 3k$. However delighted with performance put some real nice plays in tonight.

I have used a stop and go tactic effectively the last 2 nights and I will write a piece on this in next few days.

Heres hoping i can make it 3 fin tabs in a row as the rake the rake 10k$ freeroll is on Sunday.

Might have a look later for anyone whos been in the pub too long :) - but had a few myself so need to watch out.

BAD BEAT - DONT WORRY NOT ANOTHER TWIST

There is a team event with a grand final in Londonrun by www.badbeat.com and betfair.

I have put a team together - soapstars superstars with some lads from work.

Basically you play for 20 weeks and then convert points for chips at a live event. You can have team of 8 and you take your best 4 scores.

Tonight we only had 4 runners but I made final table finishing 9th felling that i played some real good poker and earned some decant points - the down side is I played 5 hrs fro £15 profit as 50% of the prize money is taken for grand final prize.

I think this should put us mid table but I should have 6 runners next week so hopeful we can get some more points on the board.

POCKET ACES or 7 2 !!!!

Last 2 nights I have gone out the 15k gtd with pocket aces when I have some one all in on the flop when they have top pair and each time they have hit 2 pair and knocked me out.

Tonight I lose a 5k pot with AA when I get all the chips in on Q 6 3 board v KQ and turn comes K.

Just looked at records and 5 of the last 6 times that I had pocket aces and got any caller prelop then they have been beat. This is FL, NL and tournies - the FL and NL are 4 figure beats in total :(

Just trying to console oneself saying I am getting the cash in when in front but really starting to hurt now. Im running terrible at the moment and down on the month.

Im going to enter a team in the badbeat event which starts on Thursday and runs for 20 weeks with the grand final in London - I think on current run it is aptly names so I should run well !!! :). However rant over - purpose of this post is to know you opponent.

I would not normally call a preflop 4* BB bet with K J offsuit - however I noted this gut raced preflop nearly every time with and two cards and then put in a pot size continuation bet. Hence I was pretty sure if I could hit a K or J high flop I would get paid off for my full stack which was low £140.

Everything went to plan till outdrawn again ............. However make sure you know your opponent- a 4* BB raise from another tight gut could be a sign of a definite AA or KK.

WORST FEELING IN MY POKER CAREER in 15K

Made final table of the 15k where the prizes are top heavy and was doing well sitting in 3rd with 9 left.

Luther pushes all in for 35k and I had 70k and call - delighted to see my QQ leads his JJ and 4 ten and under cards on the turn - 10 9 7 2 I think - no J or 8 on riv for chip lead - out comes the 8 - so instead of big chip lead ( 4.5k$ prize for winner ) Im back down the filed in 7th.

Then battle back up to 4th again with 7 left - I have AA Possy 1 and raise to 8100 when blinds are 1500 and 3000. Only caller is BB

Flop comes 10 9 7 which is scary but when he bets all in ( has me covered ) Im certain he is not in front - pretty sure he would check raise any 2 pair or trips or straight anticipating me making continuation bet.

I call and he has Ace 9 so another ace wont help him - river comes one of the 2 9s left in the pack for an 85000 pot which would put me chip leader again.

Out 7th never has $525 been most unwelcome .......

Above prizes are to put in perspective why I am so gutted. I would say with chip lead I would have said I was minimum 50% to get in the top 2 .

All i do on this blog is rant at the moment but you have to with things like that.

I am 81% to win 1st hand and 88% to win the second.

Chuffing 2% chance i lose both.

I Wont sleep for some time !

I hit a river with 40 left in when I would have been out so I need to change my mindset to I got lucky to get 525$ but them final table beats will haunt me for a long time.

ps im sick of 7th at final table my last 3 final tables and I think 7th in them all
